Analytical Investigative Techniques

Length: 5 days (40 hours)

Designed For: This course is designed for investigators and analysts who have analytical experience, or for those wishing to refresh their knowledge of analytical investigative techniques.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with Microsoft Window and Microsoft office software products is required for this course.

Certification: This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description: This course is designed to teach investigative analysis techniques and their application using data from a drug-related scenario. The classroom presentation will include instruction on techniques used for investigative analysis. Computers are used to emphasize a hands-on approach to applications of investigative analytical techniques. Hands-on experience using computers to work on a narcotics scenario will allow for the practical application of all techniques learned. By completion of the course, you will be able to analyze and summarize case data in a concise and graphical format.

Course Objectives:

•  Graphically depict the relationships among subjects using link analysis.

•  Describe the three techniques of flow charting and the appropriate use of each.

•  Develop and analyze flow charts to enhance the investigation.

•  Use computer-charting techniques to develop charts to graphically depict the relationships, activities, events, and commodities in an investigation.

•  Collect, decipher, analyze and chart telephone records.

•  Use spreadsheets to analyze investigative information.

•  Develop presentations of case information for briefings.
