Analytical Investigative Techniques Overview

Designed For: This course is designed for all law enforcement personnel who have no analytical experience and need to learn and understand basic analytical investigative techniques.

Prerequisites: None.

Certification: This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description: This course is designed to teach very basic investigative analysis techniques using drug-related data. The classroom presentation will include instruction on techniques used in the investigative analysis of a narcotics case. By the completion of the course, you will understand the processes and techniques used by analysts for investigations. You will also be able to analyze and summarize case data in a clear, concise and graphical format. This course is designed for law enforcement personnel with NO analytical experience who wish to learn and understand basic investigative analytical techniques.

Course Objectives:

•  Describe the intelligence cycle and the role of an analyst.

•  Graphically depict the relationships among subjects using link analysis.

•  Identify the types of data provided by various nationwide and regional databases for use in investigations.

•  Describe the three techniques of flow charting and the appropriate use of each.

•  Develop and analyze flow charts to enhance the investigation.

•  Collect, decipher, analyze and chart telecommunications records.
