Designed For: All active Sworn and Certified State or Local Law Enforcement Officers.

Prerequisites: None.

Certification: This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description: This Course is designed to provide law enforcement with the necessary skills to recognize devices that may hold evidence in digital form. The student will understand how the devices store data, how to handle the device with minimal risk of destroying or altering digital evidence and how to process the device in such a way that its evidentiary value is intact.

Objectives Covered:

This course will teach the student to how to identify potential sources of digital evidence that may be encountered in their daily duties, on a search warrant, or seized by other officers. They will learn how to control and process digital devices so that the integrity of potential evidence is retained. Also, they will understand how to recover digital devices in a manner that makes subsequent forensic analysis by a trained specialist possible.
