PHARMACEUTICAL DIVERSIONS AND COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATIONS

Designed for: This course is designed for personnel from any agency, who investigate, or are planning to investigate, or are interested in the diversion of legitimate pharmaceuticals into illicit markets. This class will be beneficial to uniformed, regulartory and narcotics officers who come in contact with individuals who maybe involved in this diversion of legitimate pharmaceuticals.

Description: This course presents an overview of the investigative knowledge and tools to conduct sophisticated cases involving the movement of licit prescription drugs to an illicit market. First, there will be an introduction to the various classes of drugs of abuse as they are used appropriately and then how they can be abused. The instructor will provide examples of each type of investigation from the self-user to the trafficking by organized crime and terrorist groups. A number of exercises will be conducted during the course to better put the student “in-the-shoes” of a perpetrator(s). A comparison of similarities will be made between typical narcotics work and pharmaceutical diversion. Pharmaceutical diversion report writing and search warrant preparation will be covered to make this a complete overview on “How to Conduct a Pharmaceutical Diversion Investigation.”
