Prerequisites : None.
Certification : This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.
Description : This three-day course focuses on the development, use, and management of informants.Upon completion of this course, the student will have been provided with proper guidelines to recognize, recruit, train, and safely manage informants. The student will also have a heightened awareness of various sources of information available to the investigator, and will be aware of the need to develop and maintain good tactical and officer safety skills when working with informants.

Be able to define informant
Recognize how informants are used
Recognize and recruit informants
Train and manage informants
Document use of informants
Know the legal constraints and ramifications of using informants
Know the civil liabilities of using informants
Be familiar with the labor codes as they apply to informants
Recognize investigative and prosecutorial concerns
Be familiar with in-camera hearings
.Be knowledgeable of federal and state witness protection programs
Be cognizant of officer safety when working with informants
Participate in practical exercises
