Officer Safety, High Risk Operational Skills: Level II

Designed For: This course is designed for any law enforcement officer participating in high-risk operations such as search warrants and/or arrests of dangerous suspects, whether the officer is assigned to Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics, or Specialty units such as Warrant Service Teams, Special Operations or Tactical Units. Although basic tactical philosophies and techniques are taught, this is NOT a S.W.A.T. certification course.
Prerequisites: Applicants MUST have completed RCTA or MCTC's Officer Safety: High Risk Event Planning System Level I or RCTA's previous course titled: Raid Planning/Service of High Risk Warrants course. No substitutions or exceptions . Proof of completion must be provided with application.
Any Student who is allergic to "bee stings" are required to bring an antidote. No Exceptions!
Certification : This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.
Description: This class builds upon the planning process taught in the Officer Safety: High Risk Planning System-Level I course. It teaches:
- Diverse methods for team entries when securing evidence and/or suspects during high-risk operations such as search warrants and arrests of dangerous suspects
- Officer survival concepts and tactics are taught as they relate to the individual officer and team operations
- Basic building-clearing techniques (both dynamic and slow-and-methodical)to include hallways
- Basic shield tactics and movements, exterior or “open-air' movement (both urban and rural), to include injured officer extraction techniques (both dynamic and slow-and-methodical)
- Basic mechanical breeching to include vehicle considerations are among the topics taught during the week
- Techniques designed to give the student options to safely and successfully operate within and manage a variety of high-risk operations
- These concepts and tactics are explained and demonstrated by instructors, and practiced by the students
- These methods are employed by the student in practical exercises until fully understood and then incorporated into scenario-based exercises to further enhance understanding and to increase retention of the skills
- Because this course builds on previous skills taught in Officer Safety Level I this course's techniques and principles will make the student more capable of taking a “High Risk Assignment” from receipt to conclusion with a greater expectation of safety and success.
Equipment Requirements: Students should bring body armor, eye protection, gloves and any other entry related or safety equipment that they would normally employ in a high risk operation. Any necessary equipment that the student does not possess will be provided by the RCTA. This equipment will be necessary and required during practical exercises and scenario-based training. When possible, the student should wear his/her own equipment to enhance the training experience. Students should be prepared for training in potentially inclement weather conditions during the practical exercises. Students should also be prepared to participate in training exercises that may exceed the normal eight hour workday. Some training may continue after the evening meal break.
