Designed For: This course is designed for uniformed patrol officers and drug law enforcement investigators tasked with an investigative response to drug related post-seizure/arrests traffic stops.

Prerequisites: None.

Certification: This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description:This advanced course of instruction is designed to greatly enhance the ability of officers involved in traffic law enforcement activities to detect, identify, and apprehend traveling criminals. Emphasis is placed on the interdiction of overland transporters of illicit narcotics and illegal proceeds derived from narcotics trafficking. This course covers the elements of a successful interdiction strategy and the fundamental and technical aspects of criminal apprehension through traffic law enforcement.

The subject matter provided in this course includes:

. The concept and strategy of crime oriented escalation of traffic enforcement activities
. Identifying indicators of on-going criminal activity during traffic stops
. An advanced format of roadside interview and interrogation
. Contraband concealment techniques and the systematic searching of vehicles
. Survival Spanish for uniformed patrol officers including the 25 key phrases used in controlling a traffic stop
. Racial "profiling" issues
. Current drug trends and trafficking patterns
. The 4th Amendment and its application to criminal interdiction stops
. Post seizure / arrest investigations
