Designed For: This course is designed for Narcotics Agents, Patrol Officers, and Crime Scene Specialists who need to document criminal activity on videotape.

Prerequisites: None.

Certification: This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description: This basic three-day course covers how to use video camcorders to shoot video that stands up in court and helps to win cases.

Participants learn how to use video camcorders for search warrants, asset forfeitures, indoor and outdoor grow operations, and drug labs. The course also covers how to shoot surveillance video of narcotics transactions, vice operations, and gang activity.

Crime Scene Specialists learn how to use video camcorders to document drug related shootings and other crime scenes. Patrol officers are taught to use video to shoot narcotics found during highway interdiction operations.

Hands-on exercises throughout the course help participants master new skills.

The course also covers how to use video cameras in conjunction with "Alternate Light Sources" for finding narcotics and human serology.

Participants learn how to link their camcorders to body-wire receivers to record undercover transactions. A night session allows participants an opportunity to use nightscopes with their cameras.

Finally, the course covers how to field strip and clean VCRs and camcorders as part of a preventive maintenance program.

*We highly recommend that each student brings their own camcorder and VCR.*
