Clandestine Laboratory and WMD Safety Certification (C.L.A.W.)

Length: 5 Days (52hrs)

Designed For: This class is for any First Responder who processes hazardous waste sites .

Prerequisites: Successfully completed RCTA's “Meth and other Clandestine lab Investigators” course.

Or

Equivalent training in Meth Lab investigations and Lab takedown (Provide certificates and course(s) outline or resume of experience)

Or

Your department's or Agency's Crime Scene Technician, which would include experience or training in Meth Lab investigations and Lab takedown. (Provide certificates and course(s) outline or resume of experience)

Or

On your department's or Agency's entry team and proof of experience or training in Meth lab investigations and Lab takedown. (Provide certificates and course(s) outline or resume of experience)

Or

You're a Crime Lab technician/Examiner dealing in evidence collected from a Meth lab or Hazmat incident. (Provide your certification or proof of your experience.)

Required:

  1. Doctor's certification (on Doctor's letterhead) for use of a self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  2. Student must be clean shaven (mustaches are allowed)
  3. Students requiring eye-glasses must wear contact lenses, in order to insure proper seal when wearing the SCBA.
  4. Documentation of prerequisites and Doctor's certification MUST be faxed to 601-679-3082 immediately following submission of the registration form for the application to be considered complete. Processing your request will not begin until RCTA receives these items.

Certification : This course is POST certified in the states of Mississippi and Georgia and accepted for certification in other states.

Description:

•  Student will learn through lecture and performance teaching the nature of chemicals.
•  Student will learn how to protect themselves from chemical exposure.
•  Student will learn how to safely investigate and gather evidence in a toxic environment.
•  Student will also be able to identify other hazards encountered in a clandestine laboratory.
•  Student will be able to function as a first responder to chemicals and toxins used as weapons of mass destruction.
•  Student will when successfully completing this course be offered OSHA certification.
